Hives: Indications, Triggers and Methods to Overcome Them

Hives, aka urticaria, are health problems that hit the skin. This situation causes the appearance of red or white rashes or bumps that feel itchy.

Hives caused by hives can occur in one part of the body or spread to other parts of the body. Itching hives can be very disturbing and can affect the person’s daily activities.

A bump that appears as a feature of this disease can have different dimensions and forms, ranging from small to the size of a hand. Not only does it itch, the rash that appears like a sign of hives will also be painful and stimulate a stabbing sensation. Hives because hives can appear in all parts of the body, including the face, lips, tongue, and ears.

There are several conditions that can trigger hives, but one of the main triggers for this disease is allergies. Basically, urticaria is divided into 2 types, namely chronic urticaria and chronic urticaria. What’s the difference?

– Acute urticaria

Chronic urticaria is a type of urticaria that is very common in children. This condition causes bumps on the skin, and generally last for less than 6 weeks and will disappear after healing.

Chronic Urticaria

In contrast to chronic urticaria, chronic urticaria generally will last longer, in a few months to years. However, this type of hives is not intertwined quite often.

Hives generally occur because of the high content of histamine and other chemical compounds released by the formation at the base of the skin. The excess histamine content can cause the formation of swelling in the tissue, which after that stimulates the formation of bumps.

Not only that, there are several other aspects that can cause hives on the surface of the skin. Hives can occur due to viral inflammation, allergic responses, consuming certain foods, insect stings, to weather conditions, including exposure to heat or cold. Then, what should you try if hives appear on the skin?

1. Rinse the Skin

Bathing or sterilizing the skin is an initial aid that can be tried for dealing with hives. When hives develop, wash with clean water but do not use warm water when rinsing the skin that is exposed to hives.

Use room temperature water for a safe impact on the bumps and itching. Sterilizing the skin aims to reduce exposure to allergens that may remain on the skin, so that hives don’t continue to get worse.

2. Compress

You can also try to relieve itching due to hives by compressing the skin. Use a cold compress and place it on the skin that is facing the hives. This can help relieve itching and make the skin feel safer.

3. Use lotion

Smear the affected skin with lotion. This product can help reduce pain and soreness caused by hives. Choose the type of lotion that has calamine and apply it to the skin zone facing the bumps.

4. Comfortable clothes

Selection of clothes that are safe when dealing with hives. Using clothes that are very tight can actually make hives on the skin worse. As long as hives hit, wear the type of clothes that are made of soft fabrics that are not a skin risk. Do not wear clothing that is very tight on the areas where the skin is ripped.
